CORREA HOLDS HEARING ON MERITS OF A CALIFORNIA-MEXICO “CAP AND TRADE” PARTNERSHIP

SACRAMENTO – State Senator Lou Correa (D-Orange County) convened his first informational hearing as Chair of the Senate Select Committee on California-Mexico Cooperation on May 2 in Sacramento to discuss cap and trade opportunities between California and Mexico.
The hearing, which coincided with the 3rd Annual California-Mexico Advocacy Day, included testimony from expert witnesses representing state government and private sector interests who shared technical and financial perspectives on potential benefits of a cross-border cap and trade program between California and Mexico.

SANTA ANA, CA – In honor of Asian Pacific Islander Heritage Month, State Senator Lou Correa and the Orange County Asian and Pacific Islander Community Alliance (OCAPICA) will hold a special evening of cultural celebration on Wednesday, May 9 from 6:00 – 8:00pm at the Garden Grove Community Meeting Center (11300 Stanford Avenue, Garden Grove, 92840). The program will include legislative and community updates, various cultural performances from local performing artists, and an awards ceremony for local community leaders and organizations.

Anaheim High School Teacher Moves on to Final Round of Orange County Teacher of the Year Program

(SANTA ANA, CA) -- Ryan Ruelas, Anaheim native and current Advanced Placement (AP) European History teacher at Anaheim High School, has been selected as one of the top fifteen best teachers in Orange County in 2012. Mr. Ruelas was first selected as Anaheim High School teacher of the year and went on to be one of the three finalists for Anaheim Union High School District of the Year. Out of the sixty teachers nominated for County Teacher of the Year, Mr. Ruelas has been selected to compete for County Teacher of the Year and four teachers will move on to compete for California State Teacher of the Year.
